8 Days Great Primates Tour Uganda Savannah trails (“A combination of Wildlife & Primate trails”) is a Ugandan safari that will take you to the western part as far as Kibale Forest National Park one of Africa’s greatest rain forests and home to 13 primates over 100 individuals of Chimpanzees and other species of primates including the Black and white colobus monkeys, 60 species of mammals as well as over 325 species of birds dwell in here, You will continue to Queen Elizabeth National park located 376km away from Kampala, named after the Queen Elizabeth of England, it is home to a lot of wildlife species such as over 600 species of birds, 10 primates, 95 mammal species, climbing lions can also be seen in its remote sector of Ishasha, basically, the park is a great place with stunning landscape crossed by the Kazinga channel joining Lake George and Lake Edward, a number of beautiful crater lakes-before you proceed to the Famous Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with its Gorilla giants of the world.

Detailed 8 Days Great Primates Tour Uganda Savannah trails

Day 1: Arrive/Entebbe – Meet – Greet – Transfer to the Hotel – Briefing

Arrive at the airport/our team will meet you, greet and transfer to the hotel for a briefing a communication introduction to the itinerary, have a free evening dinner and overnight. (Meal Plan on B/D)

Day 2 of the 8 Days Great Primates Tour Uganda Savannah trails: Entebbe/Kampala – Transfer to KibaleNational Park – via Fort Portal –Bigodi walk

Depart from Kampala and drive to Kibale Forest National Park 358km from the capital city. You will leave the city early in the morning and drive west through Mityana and proceed for a lunch break in the beautiful country side on to Fort Portal, as you proceed to your lodge.

Marvel at the stunning palace of Toro Kingdom, the Royal tombs, the numerous shops and the mosque before driving on to Kibale, only a couple of kilometers ahead. Kibale national park hosts the highest number of primates in the whole of East Africa including chimpanzees, baboons, black & white colobus monkeys and the blue monkey.

Have a primate walk in the afternoon to Kanyanchu river camp including the Bigodi – you will have a guided nature walk to the impressive Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a wonderful haven for birds. Among the 137 bird species here, you will see the Great Blue Turaco as well as the Papyrus Gonolek.

There is as well a diversity of butterfly species, this is the most popular of all walks inside the park. It takes you through a diversity of flora zones and unveils a number of wild animals along the way living inside the forest, after you will head back to your Lodge for dinner and overnight.(Meal Plan on F/B)

Day 3: Kibale National Park – Chimpanzee Trekking – Transfer to QENP – Game drive

An early breakfast, set out to track chimpanzees close to Kanyanchu. This may take half of the day. You will several primates in this region such as the golden monkeys, L’Hoest’s monkeys, baboons, blue monkeys, white & black colobus monkeys, the grey checked mangabey, pottos and red colobus. Other animals include forest elephants which are a common type, large forest hogs as well as several tree species.

Later in the afternoon, we will transfer to QueenElizabeth National Park arrive in time game drive, later continue to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Only 1 hour is permitted to you to view the chimpanzee. Trekking takes about 1 hour to 6 hours basing on the location of these relatives of Man.  We will return for lunch and thereafter depart to Queen Elizabeth National Park. Chimpanzee tracking fee USD $200.00Net in Kibale National Park,

Day 4 of the 8 Days Great Primates Tour Uganda Savannah trails: Queen Elizabeth National Park – game drive – boat cruise & community experience

After an early tea /coffee leave for a game drive along the Kasenyi track and the Queen’s Mile in search for lions, warthogs, elephants, antelope species, buffaloes, hippos and water-bucks.

The Kasenyi Track is among the best game viewing places in Queen Elizabeth National Park and also a wonder bird watching destination; check in at lodge for Lunch and a short relaxation

After Lunch you will go for a boat-cruise on the Kazinga Channel. This channel is a natural attraction for water birds while the peninsula serves as a migrant trap for Albertine Rift Endemics.

On the banks of the channel you will spot bird species like the Great White & Pink-backed Pelicans, the African Open billed Stork, the Black Crake, Yellow-backed Weaver, the Great & Long-tailed Cormorants, the Common Squacco Heron, Malachite, the White-faced Whistling as well as Knob billed Ducks, Yellow-backed Weaver, the African Fish Eagle, Spur-winged & African Wattled Plovers, Water Thick Knee, Swamp Flycatcher as well as the African Jacana,dinner and, (optional 3 hour night guided game drive depending on your strength and interest), stay or return at the lodge for your overnight. Day 5: Queen Elizabeth NP –Ishasah game drive – transfer to Bwindi NP

An early breakfast, set out tracking chimpanzees in the gorge also known as the “Valley of Apes”, while there you will be amazed at the rich Tropical Rain-forest in this area of which guided nature walks can also be carried out.

Other animals that can be seen include; Black and white colobus monkey, red tailed monkey, giant forest hogs among others. Later drive to Bwindi Forest National Park,check in and have dinner and overnight. (Meal Plan on F/B)

Day 6 of the 8 Days Great Primates Tour Uganda Savannah trails: Bwingi Impenetrable NP – Gorilla Tracking – Community experience

After an early breakfast, go to the headquarters where you will be briefed about the gorilla trekking in the impenetrable forests. You will be allowed to spend an hour in the presence of the gorillas after trekking for about 3 to 5 hours.

Other options include taking the Munyanja river trail, to see the stunning waterfalls plus the great profusion of bird-life or communities walk within the Batwa community return to the lodge for dinner and overnight,

Only 1 hour is permitted to you to view the Gorillas. Trekking takes about 1 hour to 8 hours basing on the location of these gentle giants. After the trek, in the evening you could go for a guided nature walk or a community visit, return to the lodge for dinner and overnight. Gorilla tracking fee USD $700.00 Net,

Day 7: Bwindi Impenetrable NP – transfer to Lake Bunyonyi – Community experience

In the morning after a hefty breakfast you will depart from this mountain gorilla sanctuary and drive to Lake Bunyonyi which is another primary tourist stopover which is outstandingly very marvelous.

Bunyonyi is a local word for “small birds” in reference to the several birds that live around here making it a favorite destination for birders on our way we will take a chance to pay a visit to the Grace Villa Orphanage home, this is locally run by a Ugandan good hearted Ugandan especially to help disadvantaged girl Child of the southern part of this area  .

You will be able to see several small islands among other highlights here,on arrival you will chose to have a free evening or do a community tour, have a canoe ride to see the various small islands such as Bwama Island also a wonderful destination for birders.

Alternatively you could take a nature walk which will help you to appreciate a great diversity of small birds/the community and schools here,dinner and overnight. (Meal Plan on F/B)

Day 8 of the 8 Days Great Primates Tour Uganda Savannah trails: Lake Bunyonyi – transfer to Entebbe airport – departure

Following breakfast drive back at leisure to Kampala with stopovers along the way to view the beautiful landscape and the rolling hills of the former Ankole Kingdom you will also see large farms of the Long Horned Ankole cattle, a last stop at the Equator before you finally get to Entebbe for your last farewell dinner.
